Breaking Wind With Style…

Crikey, is it just us or is it a tad windy out today? Just as we finish dusting off our sandals and unpacking forgotten summer dresses, the early spring weather decides to do a u-turn reverting back to it’s arctic ways. One minute we’re freezing the next we escape from the tube with sweaty faces and frizzy fringes. Want the weather to be as confused as you? Nah thanks.

So how does one dress to accomodate this indecisive weather? It’s all about layering, chaps. And we at Beyond Retro have been layering like there’s no tomorrow, particularly with our snazzy printed outerwear. Today, we take you back to a time where boy band’s reigned supreme, parachutes were transformed into trousers and cool cats in flashy leisure wear kept well away from naked flames. Yes folks, we’re taking you on a whirlwind tour back to the 80s and teasing you with snippets of classic 90s style; the perfect antidote to any wind problems (naughty); the clothes some of us hoped to forget; the good ol’ windbreaker jacket.

From shell suits to team jackets, brocade print or neon stripes, the windbreaker is there for you come rain or shine. That’s the point really, it’s one of those pieces that literally can be worn rain or shine. These treats made a surprising comeback on the catwalks for SS12, in neutrals or wild prints. We love clashing ditsy with big bold florals a la Mary Katrantzou. But we also kinda love that swish swishing sound as we wear these babies… Sad, we know.
