Vintage Spotlight #76: 1988 Campaign Jacket
Just In, Music, News, Vintage Spotlight —On February 24, 2012 12:07 pmRemember how the opening lines “I’m voting for Dukakis” in Donnie Darko provoked such disdain from the parents and the hilarious insults that ensued? Well, it could have been Jesse Jackson’s name garnering that ill will had his campaign team concentrated more on the task at hand than what they were wearing. This quilted satin bomber jacket was produced for California campaign manager Chris Hammond during the Reverend’s second Democratic leadership bid in 1988, and while his promise of “bold leadership” was never put to the test, you can pick up where he left off and take his “new direction” to a style we like to call retro nominee chic.
