MFW Day 1 | Show of the day: Alberta Ferretti
Just In —On February 23, 2012 9:00 pmMilan fashion week always promises a very different vibe to its London predecessor. Our fair city is known for its eccentricity, boldness and cutting edge design whilst Milan guarantees a much sexier and luxurious display. It’s all about opulence, feistiness and glamour; something the Italian’s excel in.
This is where the masters come out to play. Big names like Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci and Fendi all come here to show off their skills. And my, do they show off. Our pick of yesterday’s shows is a woman who embodies everything about Italian style; Alberta Ferretti. A powerhouse of a lady, her ethereal and beautiful dresses have been wowing the fashion pack for donkey’s years. Her diffusion line, Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti, doesn’t disappoint either, with one of the most exciting collections last season that was the sweetest depiction of 60s mod fashion. Obviously, we loved that line…
This season sees her romantic taste shine through. Translucent blouses were layered with lashings of fur and cashmere whilst her signature dresses in Quality Street purple and gothic black were as glamorous as ever. This collection is a much more dramatic approach for Ferretti, thus proving she really is one clever mama.
